Home to Home Moving Specialists, a DBA of SR Consulting and Moving Services, was established 14 years ago by Susan Rabinovitch. Susan created this business based on her 30 years of experience in the real estate industry with a specialization in relocation services.
After decades of working on corporate moves across the country Susan began to see the need for relocation assistance for the senior community, or as we like to say, “People with many years of life experience”. While corporate moves were exciting and challenging, Susan missed the personal interaction of working one on one with clients. Hearing their stories. Helping to not only ease their physical transition from point A to point B, but to also aid in their emotional transition from one home filled with a lifetime of moments and collections to a new home in a new community (senior living, condo, apartment, smaller home, etc).
Over the years the business grew from one person managing all aspects of the move to today a team of 7, many of whom are family. Home to Home is a business that has grown over the years and brought on multiple team members with distinct specialty areas. Because of these specialty areas we are able to create to scale floor plans, install closet systems and fill them with well-organized and thought-out choices. We pack the most fragile of fragile. We transport and then hang our client's art in their new homes in new ways that take into consideration a downsize of wall space, and yet allow them to still be surrounded by the beauty they have collected for years. And we bring a sense of empathy to the process that allows our clients to come to turns with the move, mourn and celebrate the home they are leaving behind and embrace the new one they are creating.
In October of 2023 Susan retired and the business transitioned ownership to me, Erica Smith-Rapaport, Susan’s daughter and co-worker, project manager and Vice President for the past 12 years. I have a background in formal and informal education as well as social services. I have spent years being a caregiver to grandparents, children, and extended family. I owned Greetings and Salutations a stationery and invitation company, for 18 years. In that time, I was able to help announce the happy and meaningful occasions in my client's lives. I was also privileged to run a local theater program for youth and teens. This was the project that filled my soul. I treasure every moment spent with each of them over a 20 year period.
I have been privileged to learn the real estate side of Home to Home from Susan while being able to bring my skills to the Home to Home processes as well. It has been a wonderful partnership of ideas and philosophies.
